February Cabin Camping Trip

We're all looking forward to our cabin trip to Nobebosco on Feb. 20 to 22. We won't have our normal camping program. Instead, we plan to spend Saturday at Camelback Resort in the Poconos with Scouts having the option to either ski, snowboard, or go to the resort's indoor waterpark. We'll go back to our cabin for dinner and resume our normal camping activities.

We expect the price for the trip to be $150 to ski/snowboard, or $125 if you choose to go to the waterpark. However, we won't know firm pricing until we have an actual count and know that we can get the group rate. We'll update this page as we learn more. Payment will be due on Feb. 2, and we'll depart from the church at 6:30 PM on Feb. 20.

Patrols will need to follow our normal meal planning process, but we'll relax the requirements for cooking over a fire or charcoal. Grubmasters will plan a brown bag lunch for Scouts to bring to the resort with them. Here's the planning schedule for this trip:

  • January 12: Menu packets distributed. Patrols assign Grubmasters and begin discussing menus.
  • January 26: Patrols agree on what they want to eat. Grubmasters take packets home and complete menu and nutrition sections.
  • February 2: Patrols and ASPL approve menus and nutrition requirements, Grubmasters take home food boxes, inventory them, and complete shopping lists.
  • February 9: Final shopping list approved by Patrols and ASPL, checks issued to Grubmasters, Grubmasters take coolers home and purchase food.

Every Scout must bring a copy of this BSA permission slip signed by a parent. Scouts who are bringing medications with them must also give them to an adult leader in their original container along with a copy of this Medication Administration Form signed by a parent.
